The Calvary Chapel Church has been formed as a fellowship of believers in the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Our desire is to know Christ and to be conformed into His image by the power of the Holy Spirit.
- We Believe: worship of God should be Spiritual. Therefore: We remain flexible and yielded to the Holy Spirit to direct our worship
- We Believe: worship of God should be Inspirational. Therefore: We give a great place to music in our worship
- We Believe: worship of God should be Intelligent. Therefore: Our services are designed with great emphasis upon teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshiped
- We Believe: worship of God is Fruitful. Therefore: We look for His Love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have truly been worshiping Him
Pastor Jeff Hicks
Jeff Hicks is the Pastor of Calvary Chapel Spring Valley, situated just outside Kendal, England. His systematic-style of teaching through the entire Bible is a passion shared by him and the entire congregation. Jeff’s desire is to see the body of Christ grow in love and unity, and make Christ known.
Jeff was blessed to be brought up in a Christian home, the son of a US Army Chaplain, but it was in 1999 when Jeff finally turned his life over to the Lord. Without much vision for a career, Jeff attended and graduated from University just outside Washington DC, and lived life in “Corporate America”. After several years, Jeff began to feel a strong sense of God’s calling to minister in Europe. Unsure where the Lord was calling him long-term, Jeff attended the Missions Training Program at Calvary Chapel Bible College Europe in Hungary with his wife and 3 small children. It was there in 2008 that Jeff felt secure that God was calling them to join a church that had been established in Kendal, England by their former pastor. Initially, Jeff came to serve as the Worship minister and to assist in the ministry, but upon the departure of the founding pastor, Jeff took over as Senior Pastor in January 2010.
Looking back at his life, Jeff feels as though he was always meant to be in England. Jeff played both rugby and football in America, and he also remembers being captivated by the British culture after watching the film Chariots of Fire as a young lad. This mere fascination was transformed into a reality when he visited the UK for the first time in 2005. It was then that God began planting seeds in his heart for future ministry in England.
Jeff and his wife Mary met in secondary school and have been together for over 20 years. They live in Kendal with their three children, Cana, Samaria and Judah.
